Director of Missions Report

Robert Carruthers

This month Melissa and I begin 20 years of ministry with Sandy Creek Baptist Association. It is with deepest appreciation that we say, “thank you to our Savior and Sandy Creek Baptist Association for a great place to serve”.

A few positive highlights of the past year for me are:

  • A mission trip to EL Salvador where many young men and women made professions of faith.
  • The completion of the dining hall at the Retreat Center. The building will be a wonderful blessing for years to come.
  • Our camp program still ranks very high in my life. Many lives are changed each year. The adults serve with great joy and the campers talk about their experience for many weeks after it is over.

We are thankful for the pastors that serve. Ninety percent of our churches are bi-vocational pastorates. In these churches, some of the pastors have continued to serve for a very long time. I believe this speaks very highly to the ability of our churches to meet, worship, and conduct the Lord’s business effectively.

There continue to be challenges each year. A few of them are:

  • There are several churches at this time without pastors.
  • We need more connection within our association.
  • We need more mission involvement by the churches and by individuals.

Would you please pray with me about these issues and others that God will give direction for positive resolution to the needs?

Local church development is critical to reaching our communities with the good news of Jesus Christ. Growing local churches reach lost people, engage their community, and grow teachers, pastors, and missionaries for the Kingdom.

Thank you for supporting and praying for Sandy Creek Baptist Association.

Living for His Return!  Bro. Bob
